ZOS is a clear colourless highly acidic solution. Anionic zirconium
species exist in the form of polymeric chains linked by hydroxyl bridges.

Application – Pigment Coating |

Typical ZrO2 content 22%
ZOS provides an ideal source of the Zr ion, for use in the TiO2 industry.
When light impacts and is reflected from the surface of a TiO2 particle,
it undergoes an energy change. Such a change will cause the organic
vehicle in which the TiO2 is suspended, to undergo a chemical change
and become discoloured. Hence white paint will become yellow very
quickly. Adding Zr the surface of the TiO2 particle will change this
interaction with light and so inhibit the yellowing reactions. |

Application - Leather Tanning |

Typical ZrO2 content 22%
Zirconium based chemicals are well known for their cross linking ability,
particularly in the case of carboxyl groups in the Paper and Board
industry. They react equally well with protein groups and so are ideal
in the leather tanning industry.
Zirconium, being a colourless ion is an ideal system for the tanning of white leather or in
some re-tanning processes.
