PZH is an off-white free flowing powder, highly alkaline in nature.
Anionic zirconium species exist in the form of polymeric chains linked
by hydroxyl bridges. |
 |
Application - Flame Proofing |
 |
| |
Typical ZrO2 content 35%
Materials containing fluorine ions are well known flame retarding agents, as are other
compounds based on either Antimony or Bromine.
Zirconium forms extremely strong bonds with chemical groups such as fluorine as well
as with carboxyl and protein groups. Thus zirconium is ideal for holding fluorine onto
proteinacious material such as wool. Such strong bonding preserves the flame retarding
fluorine through several laundering cycles. |

Application - Metal Hardening |
 |
| |
Typical ZrO2 content 35%
Soft metals such as Magnesium and Aluminium may be hardened by the
addition of Zr.
The PZH is added to the molten metal in the foundry under controlled
conditions. |
