Zirconium basic sulphate is a non-homogeneous moist white cake containing
approximately 38% ZrO2 + HfO2. ZBS is an acidic material, with an
approximate reslurry pH of 2. The solid is substantially insoluble
in water. The zirconium species in this product can be represented
as polymeric chains linked by hydroxyl bridges. A proportion of the
Zr groups will also have sulphate groups attached to them. |

ZBS is used as an intermediate for the preparation of a range of
zirconium oxides and zirconium salts. |
